Your Hearth LLC · Illinois, United States

We build software for problems that are too specific for off-the-shelf tools.

Your Hearth is a software company. We develop our own applications, and we take on defined builds for other people. Either way, the deliverable is the same thing: working software, in the hands of whoever needed it.

We are not a consultancy. We do not sell advice, audits, discovery phases, or hours. You do not hire us to tell you what to build. You hire us to build it, and we hand over the finished thing.

A lot of what we work on is too small, too specific, or too unglamorous for a product company to ever ship. That is the part we find interesting.

Two kinds of work

Our own products, and builds for other people.

Track one

In-house applications

Small, focused apps aimed at friction we have run into ourselves or watched people around us work around. The common thread is locality: things that help a household, a neighborhood, or an organization that operates on a handful of people and goodwill.

  • Everyday planning and routine, for people whose week does not behave
  • Coordination for places that run on volunteers
  • Built privacy-first, with data kept on the device wherever it can be

Track two

Custom software builds

Someone has a problem with a clear shape and no product that fits it. We scope the build, write it, test it, and hand it over. One defined piece of software, delivered, with the source and the keys going to you.

  • A fixed scope agreed in writing before anything starts
  • You talk to the person building it, not an account manager
  • It ends with software that runs, not a recommendation

How an engagement works

How we work

Narrow scope. Finished work. Plain language.

  1. 01

Start from the problem, not the platform

Before anything is written we want to know who is stuck, what they currently do instead, and what would actually have to change for the problem to be gone. Most bad software is the answer to a question nobody checked.

  2. 02

    Keep the scope honest

A narrow thing that works beats a broad thing that nearly does. We would rather tell you a piece of the idea is not worth building than bill you for it, and we say so before we start rather than halfway through.

  3. 03

    Collect as little as possible

We treat personal data as a liability rather than an asset. Where something can live on the user's own device, it does. We run no advertising software, no third-party analytics, and no trackers, in our apps or on this website.

  4. 04

    Hand it over properly

Work finishes with something you can run and own: the software, the source, the accounts, and an explanation written for a person rather than for a filing cabinet.

A paragraph is plenty to start. Describe what is going wrong and who it is going wrong for, and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we should build.
